Gadabout

A Sederan noble is considered 'of age' at 21, when they exit their teenage years and become fully-functioning members of society. In the spring of one's 20th year, they will 'go gadabout', visiting each Realm (usually beginning with their own) for a season to be presented to the various courts and rulers as well and meet and mingle other gadabouts, ending in the Winter Season being presented to the Emperor in Ptah.

This gadding period will normally last until: they get pregnant, they take a position, or they turn 25 (although it is unusual for someone to gad about for a full five years before finding some better role).

The primary purpose of the gadabout is to allow young Sederans to mingle amongst themselves, to encourage marriages and reproduction. For men, it is considered a chance to forge ties with a new clan, and for women, it is a chance to find new potential partners to bring back to the clan.
